Children's Ministries

[The Lord] commanded our forefathers to teach their children [His statutes], so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget His deeds but would keep His commands. Psalm 78:5b-7

Time and again, throughout the Scriptures, God commands His people to teach their children His truths so that they will learn to love and obey Him. We at Lighthouse Bible Church understand that teaching God's Word to our children must, therefore, be one of our highest priorities. And it is with this in mind that we have established the purpose of our children's ministries - to teach our children God's statutes so that they will "put their trust in God and not forget His deeds but keep His commands."

The following ministries will be available beginning with our first service on March 7:

Nursery - will be provided for children from birth through age 2. Linda Siert and Laurie Gregornik will be heading up our nursery. Parents are asked to bring "Pack 'n Play's" for crib babies if possible. Out of respect for the other children, babies and children with colds, fevers, or other communicable diseases will not be permitted in the nursery or in any of our children's activities.

Toddler Church - will be provided for children ages 3 through kindergarten. Linda Fell and Ginny Timms will be the leaders of this program. Toddlers and primary children will meet together at the beginning of the hour for a time of singing and sharing. After the opening exercises, preschoolers will be taught a Bible story, practice a memory verse, and complete a related craft.

Primary Church - will be provided for children in grades 1 - 4. Cris Fisher and Marj DeVore will lead this program. The primary church program will follow the same format as the toddler church program.

Children older than 4th grade are encouraged to participate with their parents in the adult Bible Study Hour.

As we begin, we will be using Bible stories from the Bible story book Classic Bible Stories by Standard Publishing for the preschoolers and The Bible for Children published by Good Books for the primary children.

As our numbers grow, we plan to transition to curriculum published by Through the Bible. This curriculum is designed to take even the toddler children through the Bible in a systematic way, so that they can become thoroughly familiar with the story told in God's Word, both Old and New Testament, to encourage them to memorize God's Word, and to apply their study of God's Word to their lives in practical ways.
